Line.C is a French artist born in 1977 who lives and works in Rennes (France). In 2000, she graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in the city of Rennes with congratulations from the jury. Her first works were exhibited at the international biennial Dak’art 98, then Femin-Art in Germany and Belgium. In 2004, she produced the poster for the 26th edition of the Transmusicales de Rennes.

Her first works painted on canvas focused on the search for the mask and the face, expressing herself with techniques of dripping dear to Pollock, using oils and pigments to show us these androgynous and mixed faces, but also photographic research on the “non-mask” showing the uncontrollable expressions of bungee jumpers that she captures on the fly then insolates on canvas in a darkroom.

Subsequently, she enriches her artistic production by using a new material. Indeed, in 2015, she trained in the European lacquer technique with art master Isabelle Emmerique in Paris. A 300-year-old French tradition, whose gestures draw on Chinese and Japanese techniques, European lacquer has since become part of the Western decorative register.

Its creation is enriched with successive lacquers and feed one after the other, constantly opening new doors. In 2017, she was invited by the Chinese government to participate in an artistic residency as part of Sino-French cultural and artistic exchanges in 2017 in Longzhou, southern China. She continues her research in writing using Chinese calligraphy.

Humans always at the heart of the action. The human, but above all his deep self, the one which in turn characterizes him or evokes his states of mind. The face as a vector towards interiority. Through his headdress and what happens in or on his head, he approaches new imaginary pictorial landscapes. A purely graphic language creating semi-abstract and figurative works, richly decorated. Timeless, but resolutely contemporary.
