This is my concept of a pre-Columbian Inupiaq settlement on a foggy day along the coastline of the Chuckchi Sea, Alaska. Over the years I worked in numerous Alaska Native American bush villages and I always wondered what they looked like before contact with Westerners. To come up with the painting I read various archaeological descriptions and, in this painting, I include a sled dog, grasses that grow on disturbed sites, whale bones buried in the grass and two hunters wandering down the beach.
