Billy Holiday was a famous singer. Her voice was incredible, she was born in 1915 and died in 1959.

I used to listen to her songs when I was a child and sometimes melancholic. She was most of her life addicted to drugs and perspecuted by the FBI and the police, life did not treat her so well, men neither.

But she was a strong, a legendary woman, humankind will remember her voice forever.
I want to contribute to this, us to remember her in colours, with all her beauty and a smile. When I made this collage, I was listening to "Good morning heartache" or "Strange fruit" or "I'll be seeing you." To capture this contrast was my main ambition, to mix sadness with colours. Her beautiful smile with her voice and the lyrics. To capture both. To show the wonderful woman behind the music.

IMPORTANT: None of my artwork is perfect, they are organic, there are drops of paint, tears in the paper, waves, glue residues. They are original!

ART INSPIRATION: Jerome's art is about capturing the essence, spirit, and energy of the world around him. Bringing it together, reflecting, mixing.

His main mean is mixed-arts / collage. He loves to divide and unite, giving things a new angle by fragmenting or assembling them.

Many of Jerome's paintings are distinguished by giving them a new twist, by taking new focusses, new perspectiuves, adding frames or colours.

He also is very interested in the expressive power of color and how certain colors can trigger different emotions.

ART COMMISSIONS: Jerome Cholet is available for Art Commissions.

DISCLAIMER: All of Jerome's artwork is hand made, so they have ripples, blobs, drops of paint, wrinkles, and bumps. For him art is organic, it arises from natural materials, it changes over time. He does not like clinically clean art, he likes change, maturation and decline. All three are part of life and his art.
