Die chinesischen Zeichen folgen der klassischen Schreibweise, wie sie im Wörterbuch des Kaisers Kang Xi Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts festgelegt wurden. In einigen wenigen Fällen wird die 1976 eingeführte vereinfachte Darstellung aus dem „Wörterbuch des Neuen China“ (Xinhua Zidian) verwendet. Dies wird bei den Arbeiten ausdrücklich vermerkt.
Der Schriftstil der Kalligraphie orientiert sich an der sogenannten modernen Schrift (Xian Shu), die von Yan Zhen-Qing im 8. Jahrhundert entwickelt wurde. Bei Abweichungen ist dies ausdrücklich vermerkt.
Die Übersetzung der chinesischen Zeichen in die lateinische Umschrift erfolgt in dem Pinyin–System. Um die Darstellung der Texte unabhängig vom Browser zu gestalten, sind die Vokale ohne Akzente gesetzt. Dadurch ist die Intonation der Vokale nicht erkennbar. Die korrekte Akzentuierung wird in Kürze in einem neuen Dokument auf der Website präsentiert.
