Éric Petr
Éric Petr is an artist photographer for whom light is a symbol of life, and time, its eternal renewal. When he captures the light to write his presence there in negative, the secrets of the material it contains tell celestial stories.
His photography is a dialogue between the sky and man. It is a reflection on the essence of light. It is a variation on Werner Heisenberg's “uncertainty relations” which questions whether the observation theory of the universe would impose certain limits on our perception of reality. It shows the fragility and beauty of life.
Éric Petr is a self-taught artist living and working in Marseille (France). He has participated in numerous exhibitions: Ringoya Gallery Tokyo in Japan (2017 and 2019), 1905 Gallery Shenyang, in China in 2019…. His photos have been the subject of numerous publications: L'oeil de la photographie in 2017, Nuit Radieuse with Canoline Critiks in 2021...

DO YOU KNOW THE CNFAP?
With the aim of contributing and humbly bringing my knowledge to organizations working for the artistic cause in the world, I am happy to have been admitted to join the Board of Directors of the CNFAP in June 2024.
The CNFAP [Conseil National Français des Arts Plastiques] is an organization born out of the creation of the IAA-AIAP [International Association of Art – Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques].
But before I tell you about the CNFAP, I would like to introduce you to the IAA-AIAP.
http://www.cnfap-artsplastiques.org
https://iaa-aiap.com
The IAA-AIAP is an NGO emanating from UNESCO, whose foundations date back to 1948, and whose role was to investigate the ways in which artists could serve UNESCO’s objectives, and to discover what obstacles of a social, economic or political nature stand in the way of artists practising their art, throughout the world.
In 1954, the IAA-AIAP was fully constituted as an independent NGO affiliated to UNESCO. Its members are spread over five continents, and many countries in the world are represented by a UNESCO partner structure with direct links to the IAA-AIAP.
The CNFAP is therefore one of the national structures officially representing France at the IAA-AIAP.
https://iaa-aiap.com/artists/
https://www.aiap-iaa.art/adhesion.list.htm
Artists such as Miro, Braque, Delaunay, Pasmore, Hartung, Laurencin, Matta, Lurçat, Masson, Vasarely, Moore, Soto, Cesar, Calder and many others have contributed to the growth of the IAA-AIAP.
Today, other personalities from the artistic world continue to work to defend the rights of artists worldwide.
Each member holds an IAA-AIAP Card recognized and accepted by museums and art institutions worldwide. It is also an important identification for artists in their professional artistic pursuits. It is awarded by the National Committee of the artist’s country of residence. In France, it will be issued by the CNFAP.
The CNFAP was set up by the French Ministry of Education’s Direction Générale des Arts et des Lettres in 1956, to officially represent France at the IAA-AIAP and promote dialogue and exchange between artists worldwide.
The CNFAP’s founder-members include twenty eminent artists such as Georges Braque, Roger Chapelain-Midy, André Dunoyer de Segonzac, Marcel Gromaire, Marie Laurencin, André Lhote…
Joining the CNFAP as a member artist is usually by co-option.

SMARIS ELAPHUS N° 01
Corridor Éléphant, Arts Hebdo Médias and TK-21 present the first issue of SMARIS ELAPHUS, the review of the three magazines and I am happy to present my photographic story "The Doors of the Gods" produced in spring 2023 at Fushimi Inari Taisha.
ArtsHebdoMédias.com, CorridorÉléphant.com and TK-21.comare three online art magazines focused on contemporary creation. For more than ten years, each of the three magazines has addressed the creations of today and tomorrow, questioning their expression and their social significance.
Photographs, writings, installations, sculptures and paintings: the three magazines together offer a complete horizon perceived from different angles. Three universes meet, with the common denominators of a passion for art and a passion for questioning our times. Smaris Elaphus is proof that the three of us are more inventive and independent than ever. It is an encounter in the present which combines with the future, an object that we imagine to be marvelous, tangible and intangible at the same time, the theme of this first issue.
The magazine, first offered as a collector's copy and numbered in 200 copies, will then be distributed at the end of February 2024 in bookstores in France.
This bi-annual review will thus be offered first to its readers in a numbered collector's copy in an "art book" format then distributed in bookstores in a simple edition.

Variations of light | Éric PETR
My "Variations of light" are an interrogation on life and its close link to light.
Light fascinates me with the duality of its state, both wave and corpuscular, but also for everything that makes it, our perception of the world.
My "Variations of light" classified by opus, decline images which are born from the observation of the world and which reveal, a posteriori, the gap of perception between the photographed reality and the photographic recording.
It is this gap between our observation and our perception of the universe that I like to develop through the image to highlight our myopia of which we are victims when we perceive our near or distant environment. But is it not this which makes Being in its multiple character?
The medium of photography is particularly suitable for this study since the photons which strike my negative, themselves materialized by impact points, describe during the shooting phase, the corpuscular character of the light. But this matter, used as a plastic tool, then comes to underline the undulatory character of the light when one notes that these impacts on the negative have become an oscillation on the paper. It borns then a photographic writing which was captured by the observation of a point of the universe, and recorded at a moment T of its expansion.
Light also fascinates me in that it succeeds a state of amalgamation of undifferentiated, chaotic and invisible matter. A state of nothingness which is characterized for our eye by the color black and which could be an allusion to the quantum vacuum or to the black holes of the universe.
This nothingness, characterized by the iridescence and the density of an evanescent matter emerging from my photographic blacks, is for me the invisible memory which swarms, like a latent energy, in space-time, in a way the alphabet of cosmos, the one from which suddenly the cosmic writing is born in my photography.
Moreover, how can we not use the term “photography” as well as my photographic writing if we know that the word “photography” is nothing other than “writing”, writing and “photo”, photon ( in Greek, meaning "light") but also, elementary particle (quantum or boson) of light.

Diffractions

Eric PETR [ a.m.o.u.r. ... ]
Titre : 0x38E61301 / Ph. Eric Petr
Eric PETR [ a.m.o.u.r. ... ]
abandon, mouvement, ouverture, univers, renaissance

Moi, maintenant.
A qui n’avez-vous jamais osé écrire ?
A mon père.
I. Pré-visions

IN THE MANNER OF... ?
Whether he is a writer, poet, filmmaker, photographer, sculptor, painter, this artist has been, perhaps, is still a guide in your photographic work.
Why not become an extension of his work.
Why not express your feelings about a part of his work.
It is not a matter of plagiarizing, copying, imitating or reproducing.
It is a question of drawing inspiration from at least one part of your work, of extending in your own way the way you see and put in image, to give a new approach, a new dimension, a new staging of a subject.
To copy is to be a slave.
To borrow, is more interesting because the idea grows.
Inspiration and evolution is rewarding.
THE AUTHOR'S WORD
"IN THE MANNER OF ...「 Pierre Soulages 」"
# bootstrap_2o17 is a project, which originates in the footsteps of Pierre Soulages light and on a first reflection in 2004 which leads to a netArt project realized on a html page "TrAVerSéE2nUiT 2oo4", a work of 36 x 1024 pixels (36.864 pixels) which refers to the breakage of silver for digital.

#bootstrap is first and foremost a tribute to Pierre Soulages but also to Edgard Gunzig because they led, without being aware of it, the orientation and the research of my photographic work until recently, when I establish the obvious correlations between Pierre Soulages on the one hand, for my questioning on light as matter and on the other hand, between Edgard Gunzig who, in a second time, made me think about the essence of this luminous material and its timelessness.
The choice of a highly textured Japanese paper, for this series of five non-dissociable elements, is essential insofar as its structure comes, as an echo, recall the physical matter of the "black-light" paintings of Pierre Soulages.
Note: Bootstrap is an explanatory theory of the origin of the universe developed by Edgard Gunzig.

This netArt photographic project, of 36,864 pixels and composed of 36 views of 1024 pixels scrolling to the rhythm of a journey across the Mediterranean Sea under a slanting lunar light, is the evocation for the art of photography, the end of the film era and the appearance of the digital era; a violent fracture which already announces the death of a technology but which opens infinite possibilities in spite of a quality much lower than that of the argentic one. Interview of French artist Eric Petr
The Eye of photography
Eric Petr, A Favorite of L’Éléphant
BIOGRAPHY
Eric Petr is a French photographer born in 1961.
He lives in Marseille and, very discreetly, walks around with his camera into public and sacred places. His photographs dazzle, amaze young children through their beauty. They subjugate, astonish mature viewers.
Eric Petr, at seven years old, was a precocious and talented "shooter". Humble and belonging to no one, his photos, variations of light, summarize what life is: fragility and greatness. ...
INTERVIEW
Why did you choose photography?
I didn't choose it. It imposed itself on me as if something in my subconscious memory was always connected to it. When I look into the eye of my camera, a distance from the world is created, and this distance is what gives me the necessary space to feel in sync with this world. Ever since I looked though the viewfinder of the 6x9 my father lent me at a very young age, I was fascinated by this alternating ambiguity between being an observer and an actor in the observation. For me, photography is the way to free something unconscious, dominated by an instinctive drive, inspiration.
How did you end up making these types of photos?
It was a long journey, but, in the end, when I think about it, everything is pretty consistant. I always had the desire to draw out the invisible record of the interconnection of universal elements and the relationship that connects us to them.
What would you like to photograph you haven't yet?
My dream would be to photograph what came before the Big Bang, just to reassure myself and tell that our universe is only a fraction of a spark of a world in perpetual movement, not a world frozen between parentheses, a world without a father.
What influences the figurative for you?
The figurative stabilizes the elements. It assures us that we are. It reassures us in the sense that we can see, is. It creates an image frozen in our present. This image takes an atemporal dimension through which our minds can travel in the spacetime of our imagination.
