Comment après des années d’accumulation et d’abandon, la matière inerte se rêverait vivante ?
J’essaie de reconstruire un monde sur ou avec les vestiges de ce qui fut et qui a été détruit, de retenir entre mes doigts les poussières de ce qui a existé et que le temps viendrait effriter grain après grain, de créer des objets à partir des ruines de l’ancien ; un monde que je me refuserais à voir disparaître.
Je veux à tout prix recoller les morceaux, prendre le chemin inverse du processus de destruction des objets ; refaire une branche avec de la sciure c’est tenter d’aller à l’encontre de l’anéantissement d’un vraie branche.
Le problème étant qu’une fois détruite, la matière n’a plus aucun moyen de retrouver son essence, elle ne pourra qu’imiter la nature avec cette envie de s’animer. S’il naît du béton, le corail ne parvient pas à retrouver sa couleur. Bien que faite de particules de bois, la sciure, même collée n’est plus du bois.
J’utilise et écoute la matière brute pour l’aider à retrouver son état primitif, son langage est très riche et je me laisse guider par le matériau, « chaque matériau possède ses qualités propres. C’est seulement lorsque le sculpteur travaille directement, lorsqu’il entretient une relation libre avec son matériau que celui-ci peut prendre part à la formation de l’idée » ¹.
Un cycle se met en place, l’homme détruit la nature, il coupe, broie, désintègre du bois, de la roche par exemple pour en faire du papier, du carton, du béton, de la matière utile dont je me saisis à mon tour, que j’amalgame pour recréer un simulacre de nature fait d’arbres recomposés ou d’êtres hybrides symboles de la survie.
Mon univers est en quelques sorte flottant et instable, il ne se veut pas définitif mais plutôt comme une évolution, une prémonition, cherchant toujours à basculer du meilleur côté, celui de la vie.
