Notable original contemporary Abstract artworks
One of the most iconic works of contemporary Abstract art is "No. 61 (Rust and Blue)" by Mark Rothko, created in 1953. This masterpiece is a large canvas with two rectangular blocks of color, one rust and one blue, that appear to float on top of each other.
