For me it is very important to collect the wood thrown in the rubble from the streets and to be able to use it in my work. There are at least two forms of beauty in this: taking the rubbish off the street and giving another life to this wood, which in my view has a history engraved on it to be appreciated! Antonio Spinosa is a Brazilian sculptor born on March 4, 1963, in Pentecoste, Ceará. In 1968, his family relocated to Fortaleza, where, from a young age, Antonio exhibited a keen interest in drawing. By the age of 7, drawing had become his main childhood pastime.

In 1979, Antonio began his career in the arts as a drawing assistant at the architectural office of DNOCS – National Department of Works Against Drought. Although he started in drawing, his passion soon shifted to sculpture. In 1980, he was selected to occupy a studio at “Central Cearense Luisa Távora,” marking the beginning of his formal exploration of sculpture.

Antonio Spinosa's sculptural work is characterized by a philosophical approach, where he views sculpture as a means of manifesting abstract thoughts and ideas into physical forms. He describes his art as a fusion of thought and action, where his creations are expressions of his metaphysical concepts. To him, sculpture is not merely an art form but a vehicle for exploring and materializing invisible ideas.

Over the years, Antonio has gained significant recognition in the art world, with his work featured in prominent exhibitions both in Brazil and internationally. His sculptures have been displayed at esteemed institutions such as the National Museum of Natural History and Science in Lisbon, the Metropolitan Museum of Buenos Aires, and the MuBe Brazilian Museum of Sculpture. He has also participated in major international art fairs, including the Affordable Art Fair, Venice Architecture Biennale, Scope Miami Beach, Spectrum Miami Art Show, and Art Expo New York.
