this is a pilot project of this group, based on various interpretations with various mediums by various artists of a common concept. The group aims to explore alternative spaces, mediums of expression and art in Ahmedabad. We believe that art doesn’t to belong to galleries only. Its time art steps out and interacts with the everyday.. " The first meeting for the ‘Ek se anek’ happened on 13th February at 8.30 pm with 15 enthusiastic artists where the project outlines were discussed and also had an intense conversation on the concept-“mirror” and idea of public space. Also we conducted an experiment which explored the concept “mirror” --its physical and metaphorical meanings, at the Belezza, Panjrapole. All of us thus were subjected to layers of reflection and self gaze. Of course time limitation was 5 min and at the end, all of us shared the view points and experience with a great tolerance inspite of the fieryness of the conversations. As we were looking for conducting the event at an alternative space,(other than the galleries of course) we decided to display at the pavement parking area of Sardar center, opp.Vastrapur Lake, Ahmedabad from 6.00pm onwards. It was a very refreshing and a big learning experience for all of us. It was great to interact with the people and explain them the idea of art and also, why art in this public space. The response was very enthusiastic and unpredictable. Like any public event, this concept of art was new for many and people enjoyed this newness with curiosity. The food junction tasted the flavor of art and we hope that they savored it well.
