Edna nace en el Distrito Federal, México.  A temprana edad se muda con su familia a Guadalajara, Jalisco, México , ciudad donde crece y estudia arte y literatura. Sus maestros son pintores tales como Antonio Acosta, Davis Birks, Carlos Vargas. Aprende grabado de la mano precisa del grabador Herculano Álvarez. Cursó un diplomado en creación literaria en la Escuela de Escritores SOGEM.
Fue becada por el FONCA, Fondo Nacional Para la Cultura y las Artes para estudiar un año (2004-2005)en L' ENSAD, Escuela Nacional Superior de Artes Decorativas en París, Francia.
Ha participado en 67 exposiciones colectivas, tanto en el país, como en el extranjero: Guadalajara, Baja California, en México; y en Argentina, España, Miami, N. York, Brasil, Japón; entre ellas están: “The Artful Scriptorium”, N.York , "Derroteros", Galería Adriana Valdés, Guadalajara, PASSION FOR FREEDOM, Unit 24 Gallery, Londres.
Cuenta con 10 exposiciones individuales, una de ellas: La firma del libro de artista: Homenaje a Juan Gelman / Hommage à Juan Gelman en la "Galerie La Hune Brenner", Paris.

Actualmente vive y trabaja en Guadalajara y tiene la fortuna de vivir creando.

Edna Cantoral Acosta was born in Mexico City. She studied in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, where she currently works. In 1996 she obtained the Sogem diploma in literary creation. She undertook undergraduate studies in plastic arts at the University of Guadalajara. (1998-2001). She took classes with artists and in the engraving workshop of Herculano Álvarez during the period between 2002-2003. She was granted a scholarship to study at the ENSAD, Paris, during the period from October 2004 to August 2005.
She has participated in 65 collective exhibitions in Guadalajara, Mexico city, Argentina, Spain, and
N.Y., and carried out 10 individual ones, one of them being the Signature of the artist book “Homenaje a Juan Gelman /Hommage à Juan Gelman” at the Hune Brenner Gallery in Paris. “Ventana Compartida” (Shared window), at Galería Ajolote (Gallery Axolotl), Contemporary Art
in Guadalajara, is her latest individual exhibition.

She took part in the book “Arte Euroamericano" volumes 3 and 4 and in the art magazine Casiopea # 12 ()

She was represented during the period of March 2008 March 2009 by Agora Gallery, Chelsea, New York City.

She is a member of the International Miniart Exchange group since 2007 and she will take
part in the 2008 edition () as well as in the exhibition: “Your Documents Please” International Identification Document exhibition which will be opened in April, 2008.
