Domenico David
Domenico David is a contemporary Italian painter. Since the 1980s, he has collaborated with the leading figures in the developing Milanese and Turin scenes, bringing to life a new contemporary iconography and helping the development of the "new painting" during that time through particularly personalized modalities. His work caught the curiosity of Vittorio Sgarbi, Elena Pontiggia, Edoardo Di Mauro, Flaminio Gualdoni, Luca Beatrice, Enrico Gariboldi, and Luciano Caramel.
His meticulous paintings oscillate between landscape and abstract ideas. Few color components interact with distinct brushstrokes in a relationship between artificial light and darkness, creating an absolute synthesis. A recurring theme in the artist's work is the presence of light cuts in a dark environment.
Domenico David was born in 1953, in Italy, where he graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He lives and works in Milan where he teaches Painting Techniques at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. His works are permanently at the Castello di Rivara Contemporary Art Center (Rivara, Turin).
