English artist Debbie Ironmonger was born in 1959 and has been drawing for as long as she can remember. Married for 21 years with an 18 year old son and a psychotic cross German Shepherd called Dwight.
“I am a firm believer in the fact that what you see is what you get! Therefore my artwork has no hidden messages, no spiritual meanings, no deep emotions – what you see is what you get! I believe in honest art, simple and straightforward. My art is art with attitude – "in your face" art! I am a self taught artist who was not given the opportunity to attend art school – as it was called in the 70’s – as my mother was bringing up 7 children on her own. Being the eldest I had to find a job to bring money in. I spent the next 15 years doing a job I hated and drawing in my spare time. I love portraiture and most of my drawings were done with pencil and then black ink on cartridge. It has been a natural – although recent – progression to acrylics on canvas, still sticking to my simplistic style but now in Mars black and Titanium white! I spend most weekends ensconced in my "garret"! My paintings are on 30x20 canvas although I also like to do the larger canvasses such as my "Jailhouse Rock" painting. I work as a teaching assistant in a primary school in Hull and paint in my spare time (what's spare time?)”
Debbie has exhibited in her home town and has sold pieces worldwide.
