Die Praxis der Bildhauerei etablierte sich vor etwa fünfzehn Jahren nach einer Reise in die Vereinigten Staaten und der Begegnung mit einem eingebürgerten Schwertfisch. Die Pappmaché-Technik ermöglicht es Philippe Balayn, einen originellen Stil zu entwickeln, indem er die Ausdrucksformen der Zeichnung und des Comics mit klassischeren Skulpturen kombiniert. Seine Skulpturen sind zunächst von der Natur und der Tierwelt in all ihren Formen inspiriert. Von den Lebenden (Marlins, Schwertfische, Nashörner, Flusspferde, Katzen) bis zu den am wenigsten Lebenden (Sardinenkonserven, Makrelen, Kabeljau).
Philippe Balayn wurde 1961 in Frankreich geboren. Er wurde in ganz Frankreich und in New York ausgestellt. Seit 2008 ist er Mitglied der Ateliers d'Art de France.
