Hervé Gergaud ist seit über 35 Jahren Fotograf und Bildretuscheur. Als Fotograf und Künstler entwickelt er seit mehreren Jahren sein traumhaftes und surrealistisches Universum dank der Fotomontage weiter, aus der er einzigartige Bilder hervorbringt, die sowohl ästhetisch als auch manchmal verstörend sind. Mit seiner phantasmagorischen Annäherung an eine Weltsicht, die keinen gleichgültig lässt, versucht er, den Betrachter durch seine Vorstellungskraft zu verstören. Der ausgebildete Fotograf und Labortechniker hat in verschiedenen Fotoagenturen wie Gamma, Sipa und der renommierten Agentur MagnumPhotos gearbeitet. Er hat aktiv an Ausstellungen und Büchern von Henri Cartier-Bresson, Raymond Depardon, Antoine d'Agata, Joseph Koudelka, Martin Parr und vielen anderen mitgearbeitet. Anschließend arbeitete er mit dem großen Fotojournalisten Reza bei der Agentur Webistan. Er kümmerte sich um die Erhaltung seines fotografischen Erbes sowie um die Aufbereitung seiner Bilder für Ausstellungen und Bücher. Als Retuscheur stand er zwei Jahre lang im Dienst von Sebastião Salgado und druckte dessen Drucke für alle dessen Ausstellungen auf der ganzen Welt. Darüber hinaus arbeitet er als freiberuflicher Fotograf und veranstaltet Fotoworkshops und Ausstellungen (insbesondere bei 104) in medizinischen Instituten für autistische Menschen, Gefängnissen und Pflegeheimen. Seit 2019 Mitglied der Agentur Millennium Images in London.
