Zu Beginn seiner Karriere schuf er fast ausschließlich Bilder mit Mehrfachbelichtungen. Dies verlieh den Bildern eine komplexe Struktur und stellte eine subjektive Sicht der Welt dar. In den 2010er Jahren, nach seiner Tätigkeit im Finanzproduktvertrieb, kehrte er zur Fotografie zurück und produzierte ausschließlich Einzelbelichtungen. Obwohl diese strukturell weniger komplex waren, stellten sie dennoch eine subjektive Sicht der Welt dar und waren fast vollständig abstrakt. Ken arbeitet viel mit reflektierenden Oberflächen wie Wasser, Glas und Metall.
Ken Lerner liebt die Schönheit der Natur und malt und fotografiert viele Landschaften und Meereslandschaften.
