Zhang Chunleis 1969 in Shanghai geborener künstlerischer Werdegang begann bereits in jungen Jahren, als er bei dem renommierten chinesischen Maler Meister Jiang Fengbai in die Lehre ging. 1992 schloss er sein Studium an der Suzhou University School of Arts mit einem Professional Certificate in Dekorationsdesign ab. 1995 setzte er seine künstlerische Ausbildung in Japan fort. 2003 erhielt Zhang seinen MBA von der University of South Australia. Er lebt und arbeitet derzeit in Singapur und seine Kunstpraxis erstreckt sich zwischen Singapur und Shanghai, China.
Beeinflusst von der laotischen Zhuang-Philosophie, die künstlerische Schönheit und Ausgewogenheit befürwortet, besteht Zhangs Maltechnik darin, eine Reihe eng gewebter Punkte, Linien und Flächen zu schaffen und eine zielgerichtete Formation mit abwechselnden Farben zu weben.
