«Moscow. Rozhdestvenka street in the evening» by Dmitry Kabaev is a cityscape from December 1991. It is remarkable that this artist was so precise that indicated not only the year of the art work creation but also the month when this or that particular art work was painted by signing his art works. As if Dmitry Kabaev had a presentiment that it is not so many months of life he had in store.... The artist passed away in 2006.

On this cityscape the painter depicted one of the most spectacular coners of old historic city of Moscow. Rozhdestvenka street in Moscow named after Nativity of Our Lady Convent, which emerged in 14th century is notable for many wonderful historic buildings, the main of them is Convent of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin (or Nativity of Our Lady Convent) situated at the end of the street on the corner of Roschdestvensky Boulevard.

The «Moscow. Rozhdestvenka street in the evening» by Dmitry Kabaev is outstanding not only by its distinguished color composition but also by its advantageous perspective concept.
The City of Moscow evidently excited the artists imagination. With this motif the artist depicts an insightful emotional experience of the integral whole which is perceived and consequently expressed by him on a positive nostalgic note.
The art work is perceived as a poetic chapter in Kabaev’s artistic legacy and is yet more proof that the art of Dmitry Kabaev is not schematic and lifeless but a kind of passed through the painter's heart.
