In some traditions Azra’il has beside him a tree. At each birth a new leaf grows with the name of the newborn written on it. When the leaf withers and falls it is time for angels to gather the soul and take it to the after-life. Autumn brings intimations of mortality.

David Callahan has lived, worked and travelled in Britain, Germany, France, most of Europe, North and South America and Asia. He has always been an artist and a student of art history. He won his first prize for art at the age of eight, participates in group exhibitions and has been featured in a Saatchi collection. He is a member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters.
David admires the work of Lyonel Feininger and Giorgio de Chirico among others. He works in acrylic, oils and digital media, producing abstracts, landscapes, portraits and figurative works.
His most recent exhibition opened in September 2018 in Florence, Italy.
