World Exhibition of Botanical Art 2025 “Diversity of Crops of Ukraine”

On May 18, 2025, at 14:00, the official opening of the World Exhibition of Botanical Art 2025 “Diversity of Crops of Ukraine” will take place at the National Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine @nmnh_nas_of_ukraine
“Looking back for our future”
This is the second global project in which Ukraine participates for the second time. Botanical Art Worldwide is a global initiative that brings together botanical art organizations and cultural institutions on six continents.
In Ukraine, the exhibition is dedicated to Ukrainian crops - non-hybrid plants that have always been with us, shaped landscapes and used in everyday life.
This is not just an art project, but an attempt to stop and look back: at what the land gave us, what we sowed and harvested, and how we lived. After all, only by remembering our roots can we confidently build the future.
The focus is on botanical illustration as an exact science and art at the same time. The works are made in watercolor, graphite, pastel and colored pencils. All of them are characterized by great detail, deep knowledge of nature and sincere love for the subject.
We invite you to take a visual journey through the world of corn, flax, sunflower, legumes, vegetables, berries and fruits. Artists from Ukraine and other countries have shown these crops as something more than just plants - as symbols of fertility, care and connection to the earth.
In Ukraine, the exhibition is coordinated by the Association of Ukrainian Botanical Artists (SUBA): Curators: Lyudmyla Komandyr @ludmilakomandyr_art and Alona Hrinchuk @alona.hrinchukAnd also, Oleksii Kovalenko @dovkolabotanika , an outstanding botanist and scientific advisor of the project. Together with him, Yulia Komar @julia.komar, a PhD student at the Department of Museology and STI.
The idea and organization of the Botanical Art Worldwide project belongs to the American Society of Botanical Artists ASBA @asba.art
The exhibition will be exhibited in the Exhibition Hall of the Natural History Museum @nmnh_nas_of_ukraine

We officially announce the opening of the annual Exhibition of Botanical Art 2023, which will be held online on the Association's website.
We are pleased to congratulate all those who have made it from selection to exhibition of their paintings at our Exhibition, which opened on November 24
About 167 works in the style of botanical illustration were created by 87 artists from Ukraine, Great Britain, Germany, Czech Republic, USA, France, Poland, Turkey, Belgium. This is an incredibly large number, and absolutely all the paintings will be presented.
This year, due to the Russian aggression, which has led to a full-scale war with hostilities throughout Ukraine, we are forced to hold the fifth exhibition of botanical art in an online format. This decision will to some extent guarantee the safety of the participants and their works. We have taken into account the fact that many artists who participate in our annual event every year are currently in forced evacuation, but given the challenges of the times, we still strive to keep in touch with every artist who, despite the obstacles and distance, are ready to support the life of our community of botanical illustrators with their work. Every year, artists from other countries also join the exhibition.

Офіційно оголошуємо про відкриття щорічної Виставки Ботанічного Мистецтва 2023, яка буде проходити Онлайн на сайті Асоціації.

Ми радо всіх вітаємо, хто пройшов шлях від відбору до експозиції своїх картин на нашій Виставці, яка відкрилась з 24 листопада

Близько 167 робіт у стилі ботанічної ілюстрації були створені 87 художниками з України, Великобританії, Німеччини, Чеської Республіки, США, Франції, Польщі, Туреччини, Бельгії. Це неймовірно велика цифра, і абсолютно всі картини будуть представлені.

Цього року у зв'язку з російською агресією, яка спричинила повномасштабну війну з бойовими діями на всій території Україні ми змушені провести п’яту виставку ботанічного мистецтва в онлайн форматі. Таке рішення певною мірою гарантуватиме безпеку учасникам виставки та їхнім роботам. Ми взяли до уваги той факт, що багато художників, які щороку долучаються до нашої щорічної події, наразі перебувають у вимушеній евакуації, але враховуючи виклики часу, ми все одно прагнемо підтримувати зв’язок з кожним художником та художницею, які незважаючи на перешкоди і відстань готові підтримати участю своїх робіт життя нашої спільноти ботанічних ілюстаторів. Також щороку до виставки долучаються художники з інших країн.

The exhibition "Illuminant" invites us to contemplate this important concept through the perspective of contemporary artistic images. The exposition presents 100 works of contemporary Ukrainian artists. ___ В непроглядній темряві, коли здається, що світло вже втрачено, відкривається можливість знайти свій власний вогник, який спроможний освітити навколишній хаос та показати шлях.
