Opening of the Exhibition “Flying over a seagull's nest April 25 - 50 years” by Daniel Arrhakis Location: Pavilhão Multiusos - Vera Cruz - Portel - Portugal
Opening on March 29 at 10 am
March 29 to April 25 of 2025 Schedule - Every weekend from 10 am to 5 pm
The Exhibition Proposal for 2025 with the Title "Flying Over a Seagull's Nest - April 25th / 50 Years" reflects a set of works in Digital Arts, made during 2024, the year in which the 50th anniversary of the April 25th Revolution of 1974 was celebrated.
In a series of abstract and modernist geometric graphics, the visual artist proposes a tribute and a reflection on April 25th, in 23 works that address themes such as housing, health, education, fundamental rights and freedoms, equality, integration, tolerance, war, colonialism, among others. The artistic record, which seems simplistic, in the form of an Intervention Art Poster, aims to promote dialogue and reflection on the objectives, achievements but mainly what still remained to be done in the Carnation Revolution of 1974.
With a few colors such as grays, blacks, creams that attempt to characterize the period before the revolution and red as a chromatic landmark of this revolution, as well as a modernist geometric graphic design, the aim is to bridge and provoke reflection between a dramatic past, the troubled present and the uncertain future of our Young Democracy and the values of April.
The artist thanks the Parish Council of Vera Cruz - Portel for all the support received in this project, without which it would not have been possible.
