Chasing Secrets was inspired by brilliant spring colors and the feeling of breaking loose from the things that are holding you back. In springtime, suddenly everything comes alive and bursts forth. Even the sky looks much brighter, and that blue sky kind of wakes up in many of my springtime paintings.

I wanted to capture that exciting feeling of freedom. In this painting, that shows in the contrasts between the more muted colors along the edges versus the more organic shapes and brighter colors in the center. Whenever I do geometric forms, I like to mix in a bit of chaos. It's all about growing and breaking free.

I use only the highest quality professional-grade paints and natural non-toxic solvents to produce archival paintings. This piece is on a gallery wrapped canvas and the painting continues around the sides. The work comes wired to hang.

She approaches each painting with a single driving emotion. In the beginning, she creates an under-painting that allows the discovery of naturally organic forms on the canvas. Through an artistic dialogue with the painting, she composes and unifies the organic forms, until a completed abstract painting develops, inspired by the cycles, emotions, and equilibrium of our ever-changing environment.
This layering technique mirrors the larger theme of her work: the hard edges of our structured world contrasted against the organic contours of the natural world. On a metaphorical level, the art of Cynthia Ligeros explores the idea of the deeper subconscious self unifying with the higher self, to make us whole.
Her artwork has been acquired by the University of Colorado Boulder, St. Regis Hotels, and collectors across the United States and Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
