Christos Efstathiou is a painter and sculptor with his contemporary art work containing themes of surrealism, created with materials such as metal, paint, wire and stone. His thematic series he worked on in different periods are: “Age of Humans”, “Installation” “Frequencies” and “Profiles”. Christos draws inspiration from human emotion and the interactivity of human relationships. Unspecified places and human creatures in harmony with nature are characteristic of his art deriving from his concern about the isolation and instability of contemporary life. Correlation of existing and non-existent worlds and contemporary mythical creatures aim to bring out unseen aspects of humanity. Creating installations of insects, mainly ants made out of wires, he investigates their social structure and points out our scale in the universe. Using wire, he weaves frequencies into arrays creating geometric shapes that compose an autonomous universe. Lastly, his well-known profiles, made from metal on stone move and oscillate expressing the need for communication.
