A RECIPE FOR LANDSCAPE PAINTING.
.find a photo that inspires you.
.decide on the colours you are going to use-ie what colours go where ,spatially on the canvas.(landscape only)
.instead of using one pigment, use many ie-when painting flowers, use cadmium yellow, chromium yellow and lemmon yellow seperately ,e.g for different parts on the petals.do not mix all the yellows together.
.do not spend more than 15 minutes planning the painting.
.relax and listen to music while painting.
.most landscape can be enhanced by the placeing of a small figure,(do this last)
.Most seascapes by the palceing of a small sail in thre horizon.
.Study Monet's work thoroughly.Particularly composition.
.as a practice, match different colours you like, together.
.At a maximum spend 2 hours on a painting.
.paint often rather than meticulously.
.Do not think of colours, perspectives composition in isolation but, after planning the colours -go for it!
.do not think of the end result too much.
.the use of colours need more thought than other elements.
.do not overate plein air painting.
