Carlos Pequito is a multidisciplinary artist of Portuguese origin, born in Angola in 1965, and living in Switzerland, where he has been developing his art for approximately 35 years. With over thirty solo and group exhibitions, his work spans a range of styles and eras. For Pequito, art represents a realm of freedom and a language of the soul.
Beyond painting, Pequito engages in various creative projects, including workshops with children and adolescents, live body-painting performances, nightclub decorations, theater set design, street art, sculpture, furniture transformation, and sneaker customization. He primarily works with acrylics, infusing his paintings with a vivid sense of color and often incorporating geometric patterns that reflect his graphic universe.
His artistic practice is ever-evolving. Pequito currently explores intuitive painting, which emphasizes spontaneity and self-expression. He experiments with various techniques and materials, seeking to push the boundaries of creativity. According to Pequito, "The only limit is me, and intuitive painting is, in a way, a conscious attempt to distance myself from my ego, to finally let, in the act of creating, my true self express itself. My works thus reveal abstract reflections of who I really am."
