Bogumił Burzyński, born on June 9, 1957, in Katowice, is a Polish sculptor known for his extensive public and ecclesiastical works. He graduated from the Antoni Kenar State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Zakopane and completed his studies in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków in 1986.
Burzyński’s artistic practice includes monumental sculptures, park installations, portraiture, small sculptural forms, commemorative plaques, medals, and statuettes. His work is present in public spaces, churches, and national memorials throughout Poland and abroad.
Notable works include the Monument to Blessed Father Adolph Kolping in Germany, sculptures in the Gallery of Katowice Artists, and Świetlik – the Guardian Spirit of the City of Bytom. He is also the author of numerous memorials, including tributes to Silesian scouts and insurgents, and many religious works, such as The 108 Blessed in the Archcathedral of Christ the King in Katowice, and Marian sculptures in Jaworzno.
He has created commemorative plaques featuring figures such as Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, and Wojciech Korfanty, as well as medals and statuettes for institutions, cultural awards, and civic honors — including the "Korfanty Award," the Honorary Badge of the City of Katowice, and awards for doctors, filmmakers, athletes, and schools.
