Catocala Sponsa, the dark crimson underwing, is a species of moth of the family Erebidae. It is found in Europe, North Africa and from Anatolia up to the Caucasus.

Characteristic: Wingspan 60-80 mm. The forewings are mottled gray with slightly indistinct kidney markings and markings. The hindwings are almost burgundy, with a black median line and a broad black seam band.
