By Anna Shkolik
“Mountain Calm” is my attempt to capture the enchantment of the Carpathians at that quiet moment when the day slowly fades and the sky gently brushes the peaks with light. I didn’t want to just depict a landscape — I wanted to evoke presence: as if you’re standing there, breathing it in, listening to a silence that speaks louder than words.
The impasto technique allowed me to bring texture to the grass, the pines, the rolling hills — as if the painting breathes with the rhythm of nature. Warm sunset tones gradually give way to the coolness of the distance, telling a story of peace only the mountains can offer.
This painting is about harmony, and the kind of inner light we find when we meet the silence of the wild.
Genre: Landscape
Style: Impressionism with elements of realism, impasto technique
Materials: Acrylic paints, texture paste, canvas
The stylistic approach in this work balances the expressive freedom of impressionism with the structured clarity of realistic detail. The impasto technique amplifies the sensory dimension — the viewer can almost feel the tactile richness of each brushstroke. Light and atmosphere are treated as living elements, which shift the visual experience into an emotional one, staying true to the core of contemporary landscape painting.

The main direction of my activity is the technique of textured impasto painting. I paint all my paintings with acrylic paints. During the process I add a lot of texture paste, which adds volume and texture. It looks incredibly beautiful and original!
