Agathe Demoulin was born in 1984 to an illustrator mother and an architect father, it was only natural that her imagination and her analysis of the environment were forged from an early age.
Her desire to create links between composite images and to stage them on canvas will be able to flourish in 2004 within the preparatory workshops of the city of Paris alongside the painter Gonzalo Belmonté. She develops a formal research there and creates an intuitive language with abstract limits.
It is not by chance that in 2007 her subject of study for her end-of-year diploma at the Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués de Paris is based on the work of director Luis Buñuel. A man deeply committed to reality but also to his dreams and his unconscious.
"We can do anything except anything" This quote from Luis Buñuel will forever accompany the rest of his graphic and artistic research.
The analysis of form, of the boundaries between full and empty, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large, of the composition of the object or the living will be put into practice for 7 years from 2011 to 2019 for the creations of the Papier Tigre brand, of which she is the co-founder and artistic director. There she will develop graphic universes with various themes ranging from mathematical paving, to plants, minerals and marine life, including utopia.
At the same time, she reconnects with the Paris workshops in the personal creation course by the painter Vincent Bizien. The work to which she devotes herself refers to a more intimate research starting from childhood and family photographs.
In 2019, feeling the visceral need to get closer to nature after having lived 30 years in Paris, she settles between the forest of Fontainebleau and the Seine. She begins a work in direct contact with the passage of time, far from so-called "classic and urban" cultures.
