This work is called "Lade Paga" which means in the Mooré language Duck Woman. This bronze sculpture is made on the principle of lost wax. It is therefore unique. The bronze is patinated with the addition of a blue shoe polish applied to the heated part. She is in a sitting position.
Zacharie Kologo, also known as Zako, is a contemporary sculptor from Burkina Faso, known for his exceptional skill in bronze work. Born in 1984 in Africa, Zako's journey into the world of sculpture began under the guidance of his father or older brother, both skilled bronze workers themselves.
Initially, Zako's work primarily involved crafting statuettes aimed at tourists, but he soon embarked on a quest for artistic progression. This journey led him to refine his techniques and expand his creative horizons, as evidenced by the evolution of his early works.
A defining aspect of Zako's talent lies in his ability to create bespoke sculptures based on photographs or existing models made from wood or clay, transforming them into stunning bronze masterpieces. His sculptures are deeply rooted in African culture, drawing inspiration from its rich heritage and traditions.
Currently residing and working in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, Zako continues to captivate audiences with his captivating sculptures, each telling a unique story and reflecting the essence of African identity and craftsmanship.
