Virginie Gribouilli is a contemporary French sculptor. The need to give birth to creatures naturally led her to choose figurative sculpture. She was heading towards the creation of characters, and it is by discovering the preparatory work of Ellen Jewett that she understood that what fascinated her the most was the silhouette. The drawing by the form, the strength of the line which is drawn by the void. This is how she decided to favor black as a raw material.
Gribouilli has focused her art on animal skeletons and mythological creatures. Her objective is to ground her style in the building of a new mythology in order to create hybrid deities for an imagined future civilisation. She identifies with Fantastic Surrealism and Dark Art movements.
Virginie Gribouilli was born in 182, in France, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in University of Poitiers.
