And Marduk ordered the sky god Anu to
arrange the heavenly world so that Law and
Order would reign everywhere.
And a temple was erected in heaven, where the
gods gathered for council and feasts. And twelve
star houses were built in the sky - the
dwellings of the gods.
Marduk liked what the gods had created in
heaven, and he turned his gaze to the earth….
And Marduk ordered the god Enlil to arrange the
earthly world.
And he ordered to dig river beds, plant forests,
sow fields, plant gardens.
And he commanded that the earthly world
should feed the heavenly world.
The gods set to work, but their work was hard.
They worked for a thousand years, but the
land was not developed.
The gods were saddened, for they still had a lot of
work ahead of them.
And Marduk wanted to relieve the gods
of their heavy burden.
And he created human workers from clay.
And they were called black-headed,
for their hair was black.
And this became a great blessing for the gods,
for hard work was now the lot of man. The gods
were left with power and fun.
And the gods gathered for council in the Chamber of
Fates and praised the ruler. And seven of them
becamegods of fate. And the Anunnaki, the
children of the god Anu, brought clay tablets.
And Marduk said: "Write down our decrees,
and write down all the destinies,
and know all the dates.'
