Quando Zukid se ne accorse, mollò uno scappellotto sul cranio del figlio facendogli schizzare via una
decina di squame. “Zdru, cosa fai imbecille!?” al che il figlioletto, grattandosi l’ampia cucuzza e
cercando di ricomporre le scriminature per dargli l’originale aspetto di solchi screpolati, si giustificò
richiamando i compiti avuti dalla maestra per il secolo di vacanza. “Papà” si giustificò “La maestra ci
ha dato trecento disegni a testa da fare, uno più difficile dell’altro; mancano soltanto venti anni alla
fine delle vacanze e ho ancora da analizzare gli anelli di Saturno e dodici asteroidi a piacere. Zukid lì
per lì si commosse ricordando il suo passato di studente, anche lui sempre in ritardo coi compiti
però, da padre, non poteva che redarguire il figlio per il tempo perso in trastulli mettendo i doveri,
cioè i compiti, tra le ultime cose. “Be, comunque piantatela te e i tuoi compagni di scuola di fare tutti
quei cerchi nel grano. Laggiù sulla terra, quei poveri selvaggi, già perdono tempo dietro un sacco di
idiozie, poi vi ci mettete anche voi con quei cerchi nel grano che li distraggono facendogli perdere
ulteriore tempo. Ma lo volete capire che ogni volta che lo fate quelli, invece di progredire, passano
giorni, mesi, anni a parlare della cosa grattandosi l’untuosa peluria sula testa nella speranza che ne
esca qualcosa? Ma poi, perché non disegnate sulla superficie di un pianeta disabitato?”. Zdru,
piuttosto pentito, abbassò il capo socchiudendo la serie di occhietti superiore, “Vedi Papà, sui pianeti
disabitati si alza un sacco di polvere, mentre sul grano no, anzi vengono bene e fanno un bell’effetto;
inoltre si fa prima e io sono in ritardo”. Zukid questa volta si allarmò; il pensiero che il figlio potesse
non farcela a finire i compiti lo scosse e da buon padre non mancò di offrire il suo aiuto: “Va bene
caro, i disegni te li faccio io, dammi le coordinate dei campi di grano disponibili”, al che Zdru reclamò:
“Ma Papà, la maestra se ne accorgerà che non li ho fatti io”, “Non ti preoccupare” rispose Zukid “ te
li faccio semplici, semplici, anzi vedrai che qualche terrestre darà la colpa al vicino.
