Italian art is the expression used to characterize the entire evolutionary process of the visual arts that flourished in the territory currently comprised by Italy, from the artistic manifestations of Antiquity to the present day. In Ancient Rome, under the influence of the Hellenic culture, the Italian peninsula became an important center for the dissemination of the so-called Greek tekne and the Latin ars, with strong consequences in the field of sculpture, ceramics and architecture.
