Ruben Gimenez Viera is a Uruguayan photographer and digital artist born in 1970. He worked as a freelance photographer for press, theater, advertising and events from 1986 to 1990. From 1990 to 1995 he was a specialist photographer V President of the Republic of Uruguay. He has also worked as a freelance reporter for several magazines, newspapers and supplements such as La República, El Diario, Lea, Sábado Show, El Escolar, El País de los Domingos, Revista Diva, Semanario Brecha and Revista Caras y Caretas. He also produced photographs for album covers, books and advertising posters.

Ruben has worked as a theater photographer for Teatro El Galpón, among others, since 1990. He also programmed, edited and hosted the shows "2000 memorias" and "La zona" on San Jacinto's Canal 11 from 1999 to 2001, and he hosted a photography broadcast mic for Canal 4's Buen Día Uruguay in 2004-2005. He also created books for models and advertising catalogs.

In addition to his work as a photographer, Ruben has conducted research for the photographic installations he has produced since 1990. His works have been exhibited in Uruguay and abroad, notably in Germany, where he participated in the second exhibition Photography International of the Münchner Volkshochschule in 1988.

Ruben has also won several awards and mentions in photography competitions, including second prize in the Heritage Photography Competition in 2004 with three photographs. His photographic installations have been presented in museums and exhibition halls in Uruguay, including the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Cinematheque of Montevideo.
