Watercolor on silk. This painting comes under the genre of Ragamala Paintings.Meera Malhar is one of the delicate Raga of Malhar group of Ragas and is sung or played during the rainy season.this Raga is a beautiful blend of Darbari/Nayaki Kannada and Miya-Ki-Malhar.The Raga is said to be created by the medieval saint poetess of Sagun Bhakti movement Meerabai and therefore also Known as Meerabai-Ki-Malhar.As there is no ancient text of it's visual theme I have based the painting on the Poetical output of the famous saint poetess Meerabai an ardent worshipper of Lord Krishna. The black cloud and storm depict the rainy season and also is the symbol of Lord Krishna. The Flute is the musical instrument of Lord Krishna and the garland on it is symbolic of spiritual attachment with the Lord.Saint Meerabai is singing in praise of the lord who protects all living being without any discrimination.
