My work process with this piece started from exploring details of an old tree stump. That became populated by small beings living at the doorstep of a giant natural creature almost demigod in stature.
Then both the stump and the creature got overpainted by a darker, more unified vision of grand beings.
This is one of the more enigmatic pieces that I'm coming back to and trying to unwrap.

Influenced by cartoons, books and comics I started drawing very early.
Tolkien's novels were a huge boost to my imagination as a teenager and I started drawing more thoughtfully. Rembrandt was my biggest inspiration then and has remained an ideal of painting for me all my life.
In 2001 started studying painting on Academy of fine arts and design in Ljubljana and became Master of fine arts in 2009. I explored gestural abstraction under the title "Formalized gesture" as I was repeating forms in a callygraphical manner.
Since 2009 I've been actively painting, drawing, illustrating and teaching art in various courses. I'm invested in several fields of visual exploration, from portrait and figure, to abstract landscape. They sometimes merge into new artistic solutions and I am always trying to find new connections between styles and mediums.
I am interested in improving, exploring and collaborating and am excited about where art will take me.
