Why do we give our ears to the flirtation of deceit and our body - to the seductiveness of another Adam & Eve?
Why do we architect our own misfortune when prayers and curses have made our tongue a comfortable habitation?
Why must we rejoice in our friend's downfall but in their faces - we serenade them with a cloaked sympathy?
Why do we make an enemy of ourselves and rebuke the wonder in the beauty of our skin because a naysayer has said this or that?
Teach us to love ourselves...
John 15:12-14
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command.

Oluwafemi Afolabi, known as the chiropteric painter, hails from Ogbomoso South Local Government of Oyo State, Nigeria, although he was born in the Northern part of the country, where he began his elementary education. His parents later migrated back to their native land, where he completed his elementary schooling and pursued his secondary education.
His journey into the world of art began informally after completing his secondary education when he trained as a Graphics and Sign Writing apprentice at Mide Print in Oyo town. Since then, he has passionately pursued his lifelong dream of becoming an artist.
He enrolled at the esteemed Emmanuel Alayande College of Education in Oyo, Oyo state, graduating as a Painting and Graphic Specialist in 2017. Recently, he completed his bachelor’s Degree programme in Fine and Applied Arts at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (ACE chapter).
For him, art is a means of self-expression, a reflection of his community, and an appreciation of nature. His paintings often feature animal symbolism, particularly chiropteran bats, reflecting his unique perspective on life.
Through his craft, Oluwafemi Afolabi seeks to shed light on the experiences of women, including their beauty, struggles, and complex emotional entanglements. Despite being introverted, he uses his meticulous renditions to inspire hope and encourage those facing challenges.
His non-conforming, predominantly-life paintings aim to uplift and motivate individuals from all walks of life, reminding them that a brighter tomorrow is possible, regardless of their circumstances.
