"In vain does one fish, if the hook has no bait!" An old nursery rhyme I heard some time ago. A time-worn jug, a kitchen towel and a rusty ladle hang from a large fishing hook, waiting to be discovered, trying to show their best side, but what will be their fate? Only the viewer of the work can find a happy ending ... or not![...]

An old nursery rhyme I heard some time ago.
A time-worn jug, a kitchen towel and a rusty ladle hang from a large fishing hook, waiting to be discovered, trying to show their best side, but what will be their fate? Only the viewer of the work can find a happy ending ... or not!

I made this work on a canvas, I treated the background by superimposing several layers of colour to obtain a single sugar-paper blue one, I traced the outline of the painting with chalk and only then did I start painting with oil colours.
I use oil colour by overlaying many thin layers of appropriately diluted colour to create the effects I want.
Once perfectly dry, I finished the surface with a final coat of varnish to make it UV-resistant.

SOSPESI is the series I started painting in 2022, with which I wish to reflect on the suspended moments that life places before us and, through art, overcome the barrier of time, to give value to each moment.

The work does not have a frame but is ready to hang.

The work is signed on the front and back and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

for shipment outside the EU we need to wait for authorisation from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, which may entail a delay of a few days

Nicoletta Bagatti is a contemporary Italian artist. Bagatti's process for creating work has evolved significantly over the past 20 years, yet his method of operation has never altered. She crafts each element of her artwork, beginning with the support's construction, using an ancient technique known as oil painting. In order to convey her intended message, she emphasizes the elements of the painting that are necessary, leaving the others unfinished to allow viewers to assign their own interpretations. Bagatti enjoys working on themes, even ones that are extremely different, in which she invests all of herself in order to entirely stimulate both her own and the observer's imagination.

Nicoletta Bagatti was born in 1968, in Parma, Italy. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Italy.
