“Poet or Androgyne”
I think every creative person is a little bit androgynous. In my opinion, in order to embody a creative idea, sensitivity and sensuality inherent in the female sex, as well as firmness of will and accuracy in expressing the form, which are characteristic of men, are needed.
This drawing depicts a real poet who agreed to pose for our circle of artists. A man who masterfully owns words, courageous appearance with a surprisingly subtle perception of the world around him. Therefore, for the background, I chose a soft pink color, which, combined with the pose of the body, creates the effect of a certain duality inherent in the androgynous essence of the creator.
The work of the sitter only through ignorance seems easy and simple. But this delusion disappears as soon as you sit down to pose for someone. Try to sit for 20 minutes without moving, even in a very comfortable position for you, and after 5 minutes everything will discomfort you, hurt and itch. This was one of those cases when P.Y. proposed to stand in a pose of prayer and, to facilitate the task, he made a system of ropes that help the posing person to stand with outstretched arms for a long time. But as it turned out, soon enough the ropes dug into the man's neck and posing became extremely painful. To some extent, this posture and mood reflected, in my opinion, the inner tension of the human creator, through which something living is born in creativity.

This drawing is from the "Secret Garden" series created between 2021 and 2022, inspired by my visit to the Orange Garden in Rome. The drawing was sketched from real model and later in my studio I added colors and final details to create a kind of story. This is a one-of-a-kind drawing made by me in gouache and colored pencils on high quality paper. The image is signed by hand on the front side.

Natalie Levkovska is an experienced Lithuanian painter and illustrator. In 1995, she obtained a degree in stone, bone and wood processing from a master artist (Abramtsevo College of Applied Arts), and in 1999 she completed a degree in costume design (Vilnius Academy of Arts). She then became a costume designer for the cinema industry, and later a fur designer. In 2006, she decided to change her life: she moved to London to work in a design studio, and started to experiment oil painting.

She creates simple and poetic artworks, mixing surrealism and naive art. Her artistic universe is a kind of magic realism: she likes to show real life objects and try to bring out the magical pulsation of space. The plots of her creations are taken from her life: a birch glade near her house at different times of the year, the portrait of a loved one, her village in the snow...

Natalie Levkovska have organized 19 personal exhibitions, participated in a lot of paintings and drawings events, and her drawings can be found in many private collections.

The Artist was highlighted in an article in Artmajeur Magazine:
