NANDO RIBEIRO
" Born in Pires Ferreira, Ceará on March 30, 1963. Painting technique: Oil on canvas. Self-taught in painting and drawing.
When could it be believed that a dry, dry land could make dreams come true for a boy from Ceará?
The artistic values inherent in the young man transported us to a time, recreating the land cracked with harvests and the thirsty fugitives replaced by young people satiated with passive looks, typical of those who do not yearn for any change.
The originality of Nando Ribeiro brings his recreated world to the screen, greatly influenced by Brazilian masters, such as: Di Cavalcanti, Portinari and their contemporaries, the late Caetano brothers.
His notorious skill and the influence that his idols exerted on him, make this artist promise that it is always possible for the disciple to equal the master.
In his painting, color emerges with autonomous expression, objective reality, organizing the figures that compose it, giving it stability within the limit of a very precise intention.
This rigor of colors and lines, and at the same time of style, is certainly not the effect of chance, but of work and mastery of the means of expression, which by giving up explanations, induces us to coexist with the world of Art.
I believe that the artist plans, now that he is proficient in techniques and experiences, to return to his origins and memories of bygone childhood days in the city of Pires Ferreira in Ceará to convey today, what had been his childhood dreams."
