Mahesh Ekanayake is a contemporary Sri Lankan sculptor. Mahesh's journey in the world of art began to flourish when he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in sculpture from the University of Visual and Performing Arts in Sri Lanka in 2017.

Eager to further refine his artistic skills and deepen his understanding of the craft, Mahesh is currently undertaking a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program at Lucknow University in India. This pursuit reflects his unwavering commitment to continuous growth and mastery within his chosen field.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Mahesh actively imparts his knowledge and expertise to aspiring artists as a visiting lecturer in the Department of Sculpture at the University of Visual and Performing Arts. This institution holds special significance for him, as it served as the crucible where he honed his own skills and passion for sculpture. In addition to his role at the university, Mahesh also contributes to the nurturing of folk art at 'Janakala Kendra,' a dedicated center for folk art in Sri Lanka, where he serves as a visiting lecturer.

Mahesh's artistic endeavors have not gone unnoticed, earning him accolades both at the national and international levels. His works have graced numerous exhibitions, showcasing his creative prowess to audiences both locally and globally. The recognition he has garnered extends beyond exhibition spaces, as renowned art scholars have acknowledged and incorporated his sculptures into their personal collections.
