A small painting done in oils and wax on cotton canvas and stretched onto heavy duty stretcher bars. This is an original painting by oil and wax artist Martine L'Etoile. The little sail boat is emerging from the darkness of a storm and sailing towards the light where the sun is just brightening up the sky in the horizon. The boat charges ahead with winds carrying it through the rough seas as it points in the direction of light. The wax creates a great deal of texture, making tips of waves move quickly in the scene and creates a dramatic sky overhead. The deep hues of Hoggar Blue are painted thickly across the canvas, showing the darkness of the ocean. Light patches of blue mixed with Viridian Green are painted where the sun peeks through the dense clouds. This is a striking painting with great movement; it’s inspirational and encouraging tone bring it to life.
