Born in Bulgaria, living in Italy, Katya Andreeva is an artist whose paintings, based on the technique of wide brushes, convey the sense of movement and irresistible dynamics. In her works we find clear and vivid colors, reflecting the impressions from her recent stay in Africa, the atmosphere of the colorful Peruan markets, the lightheartedness of the Rio Carnivals.
Katya was born in 1981 in the city of Pazardzhik, Bulgaria. In 2000 she graduated the Art School "Tsanko Lavrenov" in the city of Plovdiv. During her stay in Plovdiv Katya frequented the studios of some of the most famous Bulgarian artists, among whom Atanas Karadechev and Mincho Panayotov.
Katya’s cooperation with Maestro Athos Faccincani has been going on for years. "Speaking about an artist like Katya Andreeva is both pleasure and satisfaction", says Faccinani. "It is pleasure because she is a young artist - from life she has learned values and from painting - the technique to elevate her own value. This is not a word-play but a moment of complete and absolute experimenting. Her canvases offer expressionism - soft but at the same time determined."
Katya held two personal exhibitions at the Mexican Graphic Art-gallery, Plovdiv, Bulgaria (1998, 1999) and three personal exhibitions in Italy - at the gallery "L'Arcobaleno" in San Bonificio (VR), at the gallery "L'Arte by 3Box" in Sirmione (BS) and at the Association of International Culture "Domenico De Vito" in Rome.
On 30 September 2006 Katya received a prize at the competition “La Modella per L'Arte”, Region Piemonte, Acqui-Terme, Italy.
On 18 Oct 2006 she was awarded the Signalling Medal at the Third Painting Competition “G.B. Moroni” – “Dream and Reality”, Bergamo, Italy.
