JÜRGEN GRAFE ist gebürtiger Dresdner Künstler und lebt seit seiner Ausbürgerung 1986 in Frankfurt am Main.
Seine größten Vorbilder, S. DALI, P. PICASSO, M. CHAGALL und E. FUCHS, sind ihm Ansporn und Verpflichtung zugleich.
Die Bekanntschaft mit A.R. PENK, MARCUS LÜPERTZ, JÖRG IMMENDORF u.a. nach seiner Ausbürgerung, prägten seinen Willen, seine eigene künstlerische Aussage zu Finden. Seine unverwechselbare Handschrift ist geprägt durch seine außergewöhnlichen und spektakuläre Performance.
Seine Happenings der Extraklasse auf XXL Leinwänden, sind sein absolutes Markenzeichen und ist mit steigendem Interesse von Presse und Fernsehen verbunden.
"Es war einmal..." so beginnen nicht nur nahezu alle Märchen, die uns bis heute mit Hintersinn erzählen, was uns allzu leicht aus dem Blickfeld gerät. In Jürgen Grafe scheint ein solcher Erzähler mit Pinsel und Farbe zu stecken. Jürgen Grafe wurde am 30.11.1940 in Dresden geboren. Er studierte von 1962 bis 1967 an der Hochschule für bildende Künste in Dresden Malerei, Graphik und Plastik. Er betrachtet in seinen Arbeiten mit "Argusaugen" seine Erinnerungen, nimmt gleichzeitig dadurch Kontakt zum Betrachter auf, holt diesen in seine Welten und trägt ihn lautlos fort von einem Strom kraftvoller Farbigkeiten, die eine unvermittelte Sogwirkung ausüben.
