Working on traditional supports with traditional materials is a precious and volatile process which gives my life meaning and the ability to evolve in a world i struggle to understand; i am learning all the time. The works refer to movement, but not to a specific time, and reflect my continuous journey away from representation. My instinct is to seek balance always; theoretical, motivational, structural. I refer to immediate surroundings and spaces, journeys, observations, sensations. Things that provoke me to think and feel consequently provoke me to create; and this impulse is measured by a respect and passion for art on its journey through other times and conditions; the significance of paint for me is the potential to communicate intimately with an audience. The function of vision alone detirmines the response, and that space between the artist's hand and the viewer's eye is in my mind one of the few sacred spaces left in the world, and one that i want to share with a wider audience.
