C'est donc toujours les photographies qui servent de base au tableau.
Ici le cliché est pris en Camargue, au crépuscule en pose longue. La lumière résiduelle fait apparaitre de manière symétrique deux flamants roses, l'un noir, l autre blanc.
La superposition d'une image de pare brise de voiture gelé pris de l'intérieur scinde l'image en quatre quadrants dans lesquels le travail de peinture doit recréer un équilibre et une singularité, et de la lumière avant tout, comme l'œil peut la voir de manière singulière.
Né à Aix en Provence, Hugues Breton est un plasticien autodidacte. Après de nombreuses années de dessin, il s’essaie à l’acrylique puis à l'aquarelle. Au fil du temps son activité plastique se diversifie avec la sculpture et la création d'installations visuelles, sonores, scénographiques. Depuis 2013 la rencontre avec d'autres disciplines telles la danse ou l’écriture, et la collaboration avec d'autres artistes sont le moteur de son travail , notamment au sein du collectif Et Autres choses inutiles.
Hugues Breton a d'abord créé des univers imaginaires, étranges et poétiques. C'est autour du mouvement, de la lumière et de la légèreté que tourne son travail. A l'issue de cette exploration, qui a permis de développer son goût pour l'illustration, c'est vers le frottement entre réel et imaginaire que se porte son intérêt. Son travail mêlant photographie, collages et aquarelle rend compte de cette recherche.
Au contact de la poésie contemporaine, la réalisation d’œuvres vidéo se rajoute à son travail plastique pour déboucher vers la composition d’installations mêlant peinture et vidéos. C’est sur cette base que sont proposées ses dernières expositions.
