Este encontro de expressões plásticas, que oscila entre a fronteira omnipresente do tradicional e do contemporâneo, é assente na superfície do plano da tela pictórica e emerge, por vezes, pela volumetria tridimensional da matéria, e, outras, pelo simples relevo da linha.
Nas pinturas sobre alto-relevo, que são pintadas como pinturas e pesadas como esculturas, narra-se por meio de um leque de elementos figurativos, momentos da minha vida, próxima e distante, com recurso à memória individual. Estas experiências, representadas dentro e fora de casa, evidenciam questões de inclusão social, relembram a biodiversidade do território nacional e embelezam, também, o conceito de senciência animal.

He held solo exhibitions at the Espaço das Artes of the Casa da Cultura de Setúbal in 2017 and 2019, and at the Galeria Arte Periférica at the Centro Cultural de Belém in 2022. In collective exhibitions, he contributed to shows such as the one at Zetgallery in Braga in 2019 and the Drawing Room Lisboa at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes in 2021, where he was represented by Galeria Arte Periférica. Through his distinctive style and thematic richness, Hugo Castilho continues to make a notable impact on the contemporary art scene.
