Au centre de cette composition, l'ange se tient de côté, tel un boxeur prêt à en découdre avec les forces obscures qui se dressent devant lui. Ses ailes majestueuses, autrefois immaculées, sont à présent écorchées, témoignant des innombrables combats qu'il a dû mener pour protéger l'âme fragile qui réside au plus profond de chaque être humain.
Le regard de l'ange est empli de détermination, sa mâchoire serrée trahissant la tension de la lutte. Chacun de ses muscles est tendu, chaque fibre de son être est concentrée sur la bataille qui se déroule devant lui. Les taches noires qui l'entourent, semblables à d'obscures entités malveillantes, cherchent à l'encercler, à l'attirer dans leur sombre vortex. Pourtant, l'ange résiste, sa résolution inébranlable brille comme une étoile dans l'obscurité.
La palette de couleurs choisie par Menvussa dans cette œuvre est à la fois sombre et éclatante.
