In the foreground and taking up almost half of the image, the blurred sea takes on green tints, the dominant color of the whole. At the bottom, illuminated by a mysterious light, emerges a wall, a quay, leaning against a rock of yellow ocher color. The powerful, artificial light comes from the left and gives off a strange halo which contrasts with the starry vault.
