7 La symbiose Sculpture by Florence Vial

Born in France, I start sculpture when I am 20 years old, in Francoyse Hamel’s studio near Marseille. This is where I discover this art and learn from this so generous artist.
In Djakarta, I start a series of bust, trying to appropriate image of my models and turning them into very realistic positions. Every kind of material is convenient to me, Terracotta for angel faces, cement or clay for adults and elderly people. Mediums are used to support and make my portraits live.
Over the time my work changes, my portraits become sketches to bring out only the strength of the characters. I get my inspiration from ink drawings and shape my sculptures in one shot.
My various stays abroad brought me also inspiration to experiment different series.
But at the end, my obsession is always the same, find the balance up to the breaking point !
